Dr. Romeo will be taking part in the AAOS Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA, from Tuesday, February 15, through Saturday, February 19. Dr. Romeo will be narrating a presentation on “How to Safely Remove a Cemented Humeral Prosthesis in Revision Surgery”.

Dr. Romeo will be speaking four times during the 5th annual University of Colorado Fall Sports Medicine Symposium in Boulder Colorado. The event takes place this Thursday, September 16 – Sunday, September 19. Dr. Romeo’s topics include the Assessment and Exam of a Painful Shoulder, Shoulder Instability with Bone Loss, Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Surgery, and Arthroscopic Treatment of Lateral Epicondylitis.

The Shoulder Service at Rush University Medical Center received a $50,000 grant from Major League Baseball to explore whether their concepts and surgical procedures can extend their careers without cutting down on their velocity.
Dr. Romeo is one of the surgeons who will receive the aid.
On Wednesday, White Sox pitcher Jake Peavy underwent surgery to repair a detached latissimus dorsi muscle in his right posterior shoulder. The surgery at Rush University Medical Center revealed a clean avulsion of the tendon off the bone with little or no muscle damage
“Surgery could not have gone any better,” Dr. Tony Romeo said in a statement. “We were very pleased with the results and are hopeful that Jake will be ready by the start of spring training 2011.”

White Sox pitcher Jake Peavy announced last week that he will be undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery on the right latissimus dorsi muscle – which controls deceleration of the arm but is not involved directly with the throwing process.
Dr. Anthony A. Romeo was the overwhelming choice by Dr. James Andrews and a host of other doctors to perform this surgery.
The surgery will be performed this Wednesday, July 14, by Dr. Romeo at Rush University Hospital in Oak Park.
