If You Are Having Surgery at Rush University Medical Center

The location of the hospital is 1653 W. Congress Parkway Chicago, IL. 60612.

Surgery time: The hospital will contact you the Friday before your surgery between 3-6pm if you are not available or have not received a call from the hospital please contact the hospital directly at 312-942-4069.

Once you arrive at the hospital you can enter two different ways you can park in the parking garage and enter through the 4th floor cross walk or you can be dropped off at the circular drive way at the bottom of the building. Either way you will need to proceed to the 4th floor admitting/registration desk. There you will register for surgery you will be asked to provide your insurance card and photo ID.

After you have completed the registration paperwork you will proceed to the reception desk for Ambulatory Surgery where a staff member will take your paperwork. You will then move to the changing area where you will begin the preparation for surgery. Your family will wait for you in the reception area until you have finished the preparation for surgery. Once the operating room is ready you will then be escorted to the 5th floor or to the waiting area. One family member may accompany an adult and both parents may accompany their minor children to the 5th floor. Once you are taken to the operating room your family will be instructed to register with the Smith lounge waiting room. After your surgery is complete Dr. Romeo or one of his physician assistants will contact your family to discuss the surgery with them. You will go to the recovery room following your surgery. Once the nursing staff feels that you are ready you will be transported to your room were your family will rejoin you. Once you are discharged please review the following:

Please fill your prescriptions.
Please make your appointment to start physical therapy.
Please contact our office at 312-432-2342 to make your follow up appointment to have your sutures removed within 7-14 days.
